EDITHVALE SESSIONS NOW ALSO ON AT 5.30pm
The MELBOURNE PACK 9.30am sessions have been going for 9 months and are very popular. However, with this popular running group in Melbourne now gaining momentum, a 5.30pm session has been added on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The head running coach for this running group in Melbourne, Sean Williams, was delighted with the first 5.30pm session. The group started their warm up jog from the running track at Edithvale and headed over to the local trails.
Running technique drills were performed on the beautiful Edithvale trails for 10 minutes before the runners did their 5x100m strides with a jog back. There were several kids running, plus a wide cross section of adults running, from beginners to elites. A progression run was the session on the cards. Some of the kids only did 15-20 minutes with a gradually increasing pace. Most of the adults did between 30minutes- 45minutes, with the elites starting at 3.47 pace and cranking it up close to 3.00 pace by the end of their 45 minute run. What a wonderful atmosphere there was for the runners and their supporters.
Gun elite runner Dion Finocchiaro summed up the session nicely:
“On Tuesdays we train hard. 3 x 15 minutes (non stop) progressive run on today’s menu. Speed and endurance are coming back better after every session and the confidence in my body is where it needs to be. I say it was a perfect Valentine’s Day. Thanks for the session Sean. A great vibe too and many people about to keep motivated. A great success.”
MELBOURNE PACK is evolving into one of the more popular social running clubs in Melbourne. Coffees after sessions are becoming commonplace. Friendly chats at runs and sessions are the norm. The group recently had a training camp on Phillip Island which not only included training but many group breakfasts, lunches, dinners and coffees. The end of year BBQ at Victory Park at Chelsea Beach in December was a cracker.
MELBOURNE PACK is quickly becoming the place to go for training in a fun Melbourne running group for both adults and kids running.
