The winner of the SWEAT performance of the month for July 2015 is Jessica Guo. The amazing schoolgirl won the u/16 girls 4km NSW All Schools cross country championships by 100m, beating a classy field of juniors. Jessica’s brutal front running tactics were reminiscent of Steve Prefontaine, the legendary American runner of the 1970s. Pre once claimed, “I’m going to work so that it’s a pure guts race at the end, and if it is, I am the only one who can win it.”Jessica is very Pre-like in her attitude at training and in races. When asked by her coach if she would like to sit back in the first half of a certain race then attack from there she defiantly replied, “I like to run hard from the beginning of every race”. She is very much like training partner Harry Summers in this regard. Keep up the great work Jessica.
