Fiona Wintle has won the RUNNER OF THE MONTH award for January, 2017. In the 6 months that Fiona Wintle has been on the MELBOURNE PACK running program, she has gone from strength to strength. Her running training has progressed from being geared towards Running For Beginners to being geared to being a much stronger runner with loftier goals. Fiona has reached the best running form of her life in January with some fabulous performances.
Fiona’s running training program set her up for massive improvements in 5km efforts at the Chelsea Bicentennial ParkRuns most Saturdays. She has now been in the top three females on several occasions, peaking with a personal best of 22.16 on Saturday.
Fiona raced in her first official race a few weeks ago in the Portsea Twilight 8km. It was over a hilly, testing course around Point Nepean at the tip of the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. On a stinking hot day where it was still 35 degrees during the race at 7.00pm, Fiona fought hard all the way to come 41st out of 425 females in 42.27. This landed her 10th in the 30-39 age group.
Running training has become a big part of Fiona’s weekly schedule. She rocks up to MELBOURNE PACK training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays with her toddlers in toe. Of course, they are well looked after and often have the company of other young children as Fiona powers around the track and trails at Edithvale in bayside Melbourne. She also meets up with the Melbourne Packers on Sunday mornings for her weekly long runs where she is now logging 20km + on single runs.
Congratulations Fiona and best of luck for a speedy recovery post operation.
