The City2Sea was where it was happening for the MELBOURNE
PACK running group today. Whilst the group did their long
run around the Edithvale trails, several Packers were
hitting the city streets on a humid, warm Melbourne morning.
Two of our men came second in the two races from the city to
St Kilda beach.
In the 15km race, D Jay Geb had a cliffhanger of a race with
Olympian Liam Adams Liam was able to outkick DJ in the last
couple of hundred metres to take top honours by 1 second In
44.08. Stuart J Capel ticked all the boxes to come 86th in a
7 minute PB of 58.25. Lee Vaessen goes from strength to
strength and today was no exception with her amazing 14
minute PB of 1.19.14. Kim Benning ran sub 7min per km pace
for a solid 1.42.30.
In the 5.3km race Michael Kernahan came second in 16.09
(with an 8 second 5km road PB on the way). Barry Carey was
outstanding with his 17.14 to snare 7th place (with a 23
second 5km road PB on the way). Sean Williams MelbournePack
notched a win in the 50+ age group to come 14th overall in
18.40. Vernon Gibson was pretty close behind to come 5th in
the same age group and 79th overall in 23.39 (with a massive
5km PB on the way). Edward Gibson stole the show coming 24th
overall but won the u/13 age division handsomely in 20.03
(smashing his 5km PB on the way). Alexander Gibson came 36th
overall and 4th in the u/13 group with a smart 21.20. Kerrie
Gibson and Samuel Gibson ran 32.25 and Susan Northover 37.29
to round off some successful races for our bunch.
Meanwhile at the iconic Arthur’s Seat Challenge, Nick Jansen
made a mockery of the mountain with his 29.52 in 9th place
